To rebuild hedges which is going to rot away located in a old hotel of garden, this workshop is designed to realize students idea which is totally new, not tradetional one that is from a long time ago.

We attempt to think out one new and beautiful form by talking about the form of bamboo hedge that is possible to build in group work, seeing a row of houses along the street in Kyoto today and the culture which is made from Buddhism.

The Japanese-style hotel

During this workshop all staffs and participants stayed in Japanese-style hotel "Yoshimizu". This time we rebuild hedge near this entrance.

Decision of the design

The participants present their own idea of the hedge with these model.

The Discussion of details

The participants decided details of the design and materials.

Cutting down bamboo

The participants cut down bamboo at backward the hotel.

The visitation of Hakusason-so

The participants visited Hakusason-so. The participants had a assignment sketching composition of a plan and section of the garden and tea house, In addition, the composition must show how they think the garden and the tea house.

The comment of the sketch

The lecturer Kinya and all the participants commented each of these sketch.

Split bamboo

Bamboo the participants cut down at backward a hotel is split into a particular length.

The assembly of the hedge

The participants assembled the split bamboo into the bamboo hedge.

THe hedge is perfection

This is a facade of the bamboo hedge.

Light up

At night, the hedge was illuminated.
